Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs)

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required by Title III of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) to establish annual measurable achievement objectives (AMAOs) for the English language acquisition and academic achievement of English Learner (EL) students. This page contains a summary listing of AMAO data for EL students in public school districts receiving federal Title III funds. Click a district name to view its detailed AMAO report. You may also be interested in viewing the 2016 AMAO results of Title III consortia and their member districts. Title III consortia are two or more districts that apply for a Title III subgrant whose number of English Learner students in the LEAs comprise a total of more than 100. These consortia must submit detailed letters of intent signed by all Superintendents of the consortium members. AMAO 1 (Progress) and 2 (Attainment) are calculated for each consortium as a single entity. AMAO 3 (Cumulative PPI) is calculated for each member district of a consortium as a separate entity, when group size is large enough.
