What else should you know about our school?
The Locke Middle School has implemented several initiatives in our efforts to improve student achievement and enhance overall learning. The initiatives include:

-Implementation of the common-core standards across all disciplines
-Introduction of a standards-based report card across all grade levels to give parents and students concrete feedback regarding student progress
-A comprehensive mathematics program is in its 4th year of implementation in all grades. Go Math for 6th grade and Big Ideas for 7th and 8th
-Implementation of the new science frameworks through the web-based curriculum STEMscopes
-A comprehensive RTI (response to intervention program) to address individual student needs
-Utilizing data to inform instructional decision making in order for students to demonstrate growth
Integrating the use of technology to enrich instruction across all disciplines
-The implementation of common assessments throughout the course of the year to determine student progress
-The use of the Atlas curriculum program to align all aspects of instruction both vertically and horizontally

These initiatives are part of a focused district plan to enact the vision of the district and our theory of action: CARE: Community, Atmosphere, Rigor and Relevance, Excellence and Equity.
