What else should you know about our school?
The Longsjo Middle School is an Expanded Learning Time (ELT) school with a diverse student population of 490 students. We have worked extensively with National Center on Time & Learning to establish and implement a school-wide focus on improving reading comprehension and writing with clarity and detail. We have identified and implemented a small group of core instructional practices to be used in all content areas and across all grade levels. Our comprehensive assessments and progress monitoring systems allow for seamless transition into and out of our tiered Response to Instruction (RTI) model. Our expanded schedule includes 70 minute academic blocks and additional time that supports remedial and accelerated learning opportunities, as well as, a multitude of enrichment offerings. Our goal for providing additional educational and enrichment opportunities to all students beyond the core academic classes has been realized and we strive for continual improvement in all areas.
