Mission and Vision Statement: | The Education Department of Regis College exists within the context of the liberal arts, which context promotes the development of an educated person ? one who brings character, intelligence, and judgment to his/her career. Recognizing the connectedness in knowledge and understanding that genuine learning is active, the Education Department fosters integrated, reflective learning experiences for the future teacher. Commitment to the values of diversity, integrity, and professionalism permeates the program of studies.
In light of this mission, the vision of the College?s Undergraduate Education Programs is to prepare students to become competent, caring, committed teachers in today?s schools and to continue their personal and professional growth as lifelong learners. That insight can best be attained via the following program goals:
1. To introduce students to a curriculum, which includes breadth, depth, integration and application to a classroom setting
2. To provide opportunities for students to synthesize theory and practice in both college and school classrooms
3. To create an environment where diversity is valued, where support and challenges are consistent expectations and where collaboration in creating a community of learners is the norm
