Educator preparation program improvement goals for the upcoming program year |
| Goal #1 |
The expansion of leadership and teaching staff supports a strategic reorganization designed to ensure the SOE's long-term sustainability by strengthening administrative oversight, enhancing faculty development, and improving student support structures. To ensure the School of Education has capacity and authority to make strategic decisions that sustain effective and equitable preparation programs, additional positions such as an Assistant Dean and Department Head have been proposed as additions. |
| Goal #2 |
The School of Education will focus on increasing culturally responsive teaching practices to better equip candidates to meet the diverse needs of today's students. This goal aims to enhance the curriculum by integrating training on equity, inclusion, and culturally relevant pedagogy, ensuring that future educators are prepared to create inclusive learning environments that respect and affirm students' varied backgrounds. |
| Goal #3 |
The School of Education will enhance the quality and impact of field experiences, through the establishment of more structured and supportive field-based experiences such as Model Classrooms, alongside fostering mentoring relationships between candidates and mentor teachers. This goal aims to ensure that educator candidates receive comprehensive guidance and feedback during their field placements, thereby maximizing their learning and professional development. By implementing structured mentoring programs that include regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and opportunities for collaborative reflection, candidates will benefit from personalized support tailored to their individual needs. This initiative will not only enrich the candidates' practical experiences but also strengthen the connection between theory and practice, ultimately preparing them to be more effective educators in diverse classroom settings. |
