This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Continue to work on updating both the Masters in Teaching Elementary and fully implement an assessment / revision of the undergraduate program as a whole.
Goal #2 Continue to prepare students for required MTEL exams and increase passing rate; strategies will include continue providing free MTEL tutorial sessions, and revisiting course work materials.
Goal #3 Develop partnerships with various school districts to work with our student teachers.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Revise undergraduate program courses to make them more relevant to the 21st Century classroom (regarding today's teachers, students and their needs).
Goal #2 Completely restructure the MAT Teaching program so that it is stands separate from the Special Education program and truly reflect teaching at the masters level; particularly address the needs of career changers and current teachers who want to enhance their areas of expertise.
Goal #3 Develop MTEL tutorial preparation programs, free of charge for the students; in order to better service our students' needs regarding passing the required licensure exams.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 While the undergraduate program courses have been assigned to new faculty, who have made updates to the course they're teaching, all of the courses in this program will be looked at with a much deeper lens during the 2017-2018 academic year to make them more vibrant, relevant and innovative.
Goal #2 A continuous effort is being made to restructure the Masters in Teaching Elementary program. The program, with revised courses, will appear in the 2017-2018 academic catalog. Additional faculty will be working on this to meet this date.
Goal #3 MTEL tutorials were developed for the following exams: Foundations & Reading, Comm & Lit (W) (R), Math SubTest, Early Childhood, English Secondary, History Secondary, General Curric. These ran as 6-week sessions; students met with instructors for 1 1/2 hours per week in addition to access to additional study material online; there was no cost to the student for any of the tutorial sessions.

Goal #2 Use data, both quantitative and qualitative, to assess effectiveness and recommend adjustments
Goal #3 Review programs and course offerings to update
