Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 The College of Education and Allied Studies will work with P-12 Partners and SCOPE institutions to develop a plan to increase the diversity of teacher candidates (continued from 2015).
Goal #2 The College of Education and Allied Studies will lead in extending the scope and reach of college operations to the broader community through identifying course need, developing and offering continuing education/coursework for professional development purposes in the broader community.
Goal #3 The College of Education and Allied Studies will lead in exposing increasing numbers of students to learning experiences focused on improving social justice.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 In alignment with CEAS strategic goal #5: ""Lead in extending the scope and reach of college operations to the broader community"" The College of Education and Allied Studies will continue to work with the PDS Advisory Council to develop specific mission statements and partnership goals for all of the PDS in the BSU PDS network.
Goal #2 In alignment with CEAS strategic goal # 4:Embrace an environment of diversity, integrity, and transparency"" The College of Education and Allied Studies will work with P-12 Partnership schools and PDSs to develop a plan to increase the diversity of teacher candidates and education faculty.
Goal #3 In alignment with CEAS strategic goal # 2. ""Provide a premier education and transformative experience that prepares students to excel in a global society"" The College of Education and Allied Studies administration will work with faculty from the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education to create rigorous admission standards and an application process for students interested in entering the BSU early education and care major.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 "The College of Education and Allied Studies will continue to work with the PDS Advisory Council to develop specific mission statements and partnership goals for all of the PDSsin the BSU PDS network." Status: Ongoing. The PDSAC has "accepted" 5 mission statements from PDSs during the 2015-16 academic year and is currently reviewing a draft of an overall PDS Network mission statement for the university and its p-12 partners.
Goal #2 Goal: "The College of Education and Allied Studies will work with P-12 Partnership schools and PDSs to develop a plan to increase the diversity of teacher candidates." Status: Ongoing. Diversity has been added as a regular agenda item for the PDSAC. A faculty member has been provided with an APR to assist the college in its recruitment efforts. The College is also working with the SCOPE institutions on a statewide diversity recruitment initiative.
Goal #3 Goal: The College of Education and Allied Studies administration will work with faculty from the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education to create rigorous admission standards and an application process for students entering the BSU early education and care major." Goal Status: Complete. in collaboration with EEC faculty, admissions standards and an admissions process have been developed for EEC candidates.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 The College of Education and Allied Studies will work with the Professional Development School Advisory Council to develop individualized PDS/partnership school specific mission and goals statements for each of the nine BSU PDS sites.
Goal #2 The College of Education and Allied Studies will fully implement and evaluate a one-to-one tablet initiative for candidates admitted to educator licensing programs. The initiative will include a specified tablet requirement for each candidate and all CEAS full-time faculty, professional development for faculty and students related to using the tablet as an instructional resource, and assessment projects related to the efficacy of tablet usage on initial teacher performance and impact on student learning outcomes.
Goal #3 The College of Education and Allied Studies will review the Educator Preparation Program (unit) mission and goals and align them with newly revised mission, vision and values developed by the university during the 2013-14 academic year with a special focus on the University?s commitment to diversity.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Five PDS mission statements have been mutually developed by BSU and PDS staff. Four mission statements and goals have been formally accepted by the BSU PDS Advisory Council. The fifth mission statement is on the PDSAC agenda for review in April. This goal will remain for 2015-2016.
Goal #2 The College of Education and Allied Studies tablet technology initiative was approved by BSU governance and fully implemented during the 2014/15 academic year.
Goal #3 A College of Education and Allied Studies strategic plan was drafted by the CEAS leadership team. The College?s mission and goals are aligned with the mission and goals of the university. One of the major goals in the current draft of the CEAS strategic plan is: Embrace an environment of diversity, integrity, and transparency.
