| What else should you know about our school? |
The C J Prescott School in Norwood has the unique distinction of being the only school on the "other side of town." We have a long tradition for high standards and a rigorous academic curriculum. We also pride ourselves on teaching to the "whole child" and provide a well-rounded curriculum that takes into account academics and the social emotional growth of each child.
Our students work toward a goal of becoming a "Prescott All Star" as part of our social competency program. On a daily basis students try to exhibit the characteristics of responsibility, respect, hard work, kindness, and a being good friend. We also recognize students through our "Math Fact Hall of Fame". The Open Circle Social Competency Program is used in every classroom in our school.
Technology use is very strong in our school. Every classroom is equipped with a Smart Board that is used in daily instruction. We have three Chrome Book carts and one iPad cart that are also used daily. Teachers in grades 3-5 use Google Apps for Education such as docs, slides, sheets and Google Classroom. This year we had our 3rd annual Hour of Code and we also include coding and video production as part of our after school enrichment program.
Our PTO provides our students with many extracurricular enrichment programs that the school budget could not provide for. Many after school activities take place each year thanks to our hard working PTO. Enrichment programs are brought into our school such as authors, illustrators, kite makers, science and math programs, and live animal presentations. The PTO also supports our field trip by providing buses for each trip. As a school we take a "whole school" field trip to a live theatrical performance. This year we will attended Shrek the Musical at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro.
