| What else should you know about our school? |
Nelson Place is a neighborhood school with an enrollment of 460 students in grades K-6. Nelson Place will be opening our brand new building in August of 2017 servicing students from preschool through grade 6. Nelson Place has a strong family involvement which contributes to the success of our students. The culture of Nelson Place school is one of continuous improvement for all students and staff where the whole school community's success is based on a shared responsibility. Our focus is to improve individual performance until each student regardless of their background or diverse needs is achieving proficiency in all content areas as mandated by state and district assessments. This is established by setting high expectations academically and socially and analyzing multiple data sources to make data driven decisions.
Aligned with our district compass, 100% of students will be guaranteed a rigorous core curriculum resulting in measurable gains in student learning. Nelson Place accomplishes this goal by providing a balanced approach to literacy in all grades. Nelson Place is also an AVID school promoting career and college readiness skills such as organization and note taking in grades 4-6. Nelson Place has one of the district wide programs: SAIL, Specialized Approach to Individualized Learning, for students with a primary disability of Autism. We believe in providing as much inclusion to our students to better prepare our them academically and socially.
