How is our school doing overall? |
Accountability and assistance levels |
Our school |
| Among lowest performing 20% of schools |
Our district |
| One or more schools in the district classified into Level 3 |
Most schools are assigned a level from 1-5, with those meeting their proficiency gap-narrowing goals in Level 1 and the lowest performing in Levels 4 and 5.
A district is typically assigned a level based on the level of its lowest performing school. Placing schools and districts into levels helps districts know which schools need more support,
and helps the state know which districts need the most assistance.

What else should you know about our school? |
Beeman School's students and staff have worked together to implement practices from author Carol Dweck's work around development of a 'growth mindset." This theory helps students gain an understanding that perseverance is critical to success. The strategies help our students value the importance of determination and welcome mistakes as part of the process of becoming a motivated learner. We continue to provide our students with rigorous instruction in reading comprehension and writing. Our Math In Focus program provides a solid pathway to reach students who range from advanced math thinkers to those who need to build up basic skills. We are working toward implementation of the new Massachusetts Science and Engineering Standards. We work together to nurture our students' social and emotional awareness skills and help them become caring young citizens. We value our parent community as partners in their child's education. It is our mission for all students to be successful, engaged lifelong learners. Jodie Gennodie, Principal jgennodie@gloucesterschools.com
