Each standard code consists of four components separated by periods (e.g., 3.NBT.1.02). |
- The first component identifies the grade (3–8).
- The second component identifies the domain (e.g., NBT is the abbreviation for Numbers and Operations in Base Ten).
- The third component identifies the cluster (e.g., cluster 1 under NBT for grade 3 is "Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic").
- The fourth component identifies the standard number (01-10).
