Candidates seeking admission to the South Coast Educational Collaborative/ Boston University Administrators¡¦ Licensure Program for Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Special Education Administrator, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Supervisor/ Director must meet the following requirements:

?æ Interview with program administrator(s)
?æ Successful completion of the Communication & Literacy MTEL
?æ Submission of official transcripts from all institutions attended
?æ Completion of a Master¡¦s Degree, or a minimum of a 3.2 GPA in undergraduate studies
?æ Documentation of professional licensure
?æ Current Curriculum Vitae
?æ Personal statement explaining why the candidate is interested in pursuing an administrators¡¦ license
?æ Three professional recommendations, which cite evidence to support the candidate¡¦s leadership potential and capacity to complete rigorous coursework and an extensive practicum experience
As a component of the application process, the candidate will be asked to reflect upon and subsequently share their existing capacity to demonstrate their personal alignment with the performance standards indicators (PSI¡¦s) throughout their essay. Additionally, candidates will be promoted to reflect upon their strengths and capacity for growth, relative to these standards and the goals of the Partnership Program.
Ed Prep: Description of Partnerships:
In Spring 2012, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education(DESE) approved and released the new Commonwealth¡¦s Regulations for Educator License and Preparation Program Approval (603 CMR 7.00), which were fortified by the Guidelines for the Preparation of Administrative Leaders. Contained within the Guidelines, were the contemporary, robust Professional Standards and Indicators (PSI¡¦s) for Administrative Leadership, which the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education challenged the Commonwealth¡¦s colleges, universities and alternative licensure programs to infuse within their new Educational Leadership Preparation Programs. South Coast Educational Collaborative, in partnership with Boston University, eagerly and earnestly accepted the Department¡¦s invitation, acknowledging the sense of urgency to provide the Commonwealth¡¦s aspiring leaders with learning experiences that would prepare them, expertly, for the challenges and opportunities, which confront contemporary administrators.
By design, the South Coast Educational Collaborative/ Boston University Partnership Program for Administrators¡¦ Licensure reflects contemporary research pertaining to best practices on leadership preparation, as well as extensive, continuous collaboration with scholarly practitioners, who currently maintain administrative positions throughout the Commonwealth. These scholarly practitioners, who will serve as faculty, as well as members of the Partnership Program¡¦s Advisory Team (PPAT) and the Partnership Program Support Team (PPST), represent the diverse urban and suburban educational institutions throughout the Program¡¦s catchment area.
Enthusiastically, the South Coast Educational Collaborative/ Boston University Partnership Program for Administrator¡¦s Licensure offers the following innovations for aspiring leaders:
?æ Comprehensive, dynamic learning experiences that are aligned with the Commonwealth¡¦s Professional Standards and Indicators(PSI¡¦s) for Administrative Leadership
?æ Two-credit and four- credit courses, designed in collaboration with administrators, fortified by contemporary research, the PSI¡¦s and practicum experience
?æ 500- hour practicum, supervised by the Partnership Program Support Team (PPST)
?æ Blended, expert instruction, supported by contemporary technology
?æ Sheltered English Immersion course for all leadership licensure candidates
?æ Modeling and utilization of contemporary assessments, including: DESE¡¦s Administrator Evaluation Rubric
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) delivered a challenge to the educational community in Spring 2012, requesting that innovative, relevant, robust, rigorous Administrator Preparation Programs be developed, in order to prepare contemporary, aspiring leaders. The South Coast Educational Collaborative/ Boston University Partnership Program for Administrators¡¦ Licensure considered and accepted their invitation and, subsequently, assumed their challenge, as the crucible for greatness(Kouzes & Posner, p.19) by creating the following model Administrator Preparation Program.

To provide a contemporary, research- based, rigorous and robust administrators' licensure program, supported by scholarly practitioners, which will meet the needs of aspiring leaders who seek to enhance the experiences and outcomes of all learners throughout our educational communities.

South Coast Educational Collaborative, in partnership with Boston University, will cultivate educational administrators who are prepared to examine, critically and thoughtfully, the challenges and enrichment opportunities presented within contemporary schools.
