Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2022
Goal #1 Revise Northeastern University Equity Framework to explicitly add the dimension of racial equity and anti-racist expectations into the framework as well as further align language to current DEI research. Revise and align course content to updated framework (2 year process).
Goal #2 MacFarland Scholarship recipients are committed to providing access to quality educational opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Candidates career goals and intentions must be to work with urban and under-served populations within elementary and secondary public education. Current recipients include employees of Boston Public Schools who have participated in one of the Boston Public Schools Office of Recruitment, Cultivation and Diversity Programs Pipeline programs, including BPS Accelerated Community to Teacher Program (ACTT), Teacher Cadet Program, or educators who have participated in our BPS MTEL Prep programming who reflect the racial, cultural, and linguistic diversity of Boston Public School students. Pending endowment funding, will explore additional urban districts to recruit additional MacFarland Scholars.
Goal #3 Will use Early Literacy Observation Tool as evaluative tool for Gateway Performance Task II for Elementary and Moderate Disabilities candidates.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 Using data from 2020-2021 analysis regarding MAT Plus One programs, create strategic outreach across university to expand MAT Plus One pathways to Teacher Preparation Programs.
Goal #2 In an effort to continue to address field-based need for remote teaching and instruction proficiency, integration of remote learning and instruction modules for Teacher Candidates will be further developed across all programs of study.
Goal #3 Commit to further developing integration of Northeastern University Equity-Framework into coursework and instructional practice to create equitable and broadly inclusive classrooms grounded in culturally relevant and critical pedagogy.
