Our Art Education graduates are first and foremost visual artists. Except for the supplemental semester reserved for a practicum internship in a public school, Montserrat's Art Education Program requirements are completed during the Bachelor of Fine Arts four-years program of full-time study. We award Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees to our graduating students in a number of disciplines including: animation and interactive media, book art, drawing and painting, graphic design, illustration, photography and video, self-directed study and sculpture. All of our students, including art education students, choose one of these studio disciplines in which to concentrate.
The Art Education program at Montserrat College of Art provides rigorous training that supports students in sustaining both art making and teaching practices. We educate our students to become informed, responsible members of their communities and encourage them to nurture their own unique talents and those of their students.
