Description of Admissions Requirements
Baccalaureate Programs:
Formal acceptance into the Educator Preparation Programs requires successful passage of Stage 1 Review: GPA 2.5, passage of Communication and Literacy MTEL, 2 positive dispositions assessments, positive performance during field experiences.
Post-baccalaureate Programs:
? Professional Resume
? Submit three positive letters of recommendation with the admissions recommendation checklist of characteristics
? A 2.8 average or better on a 4.0 scale from an accredited four-year institution
? A score greater than 50th percentile on either the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
? Passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills portion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)
? Personal Statement
Students must complete an essay of no more than one page in response to one of the following questions/statement:
1. Tell about a positive situation in which you helped a person and made a significant difference in that person?s life.
2. What are the most important factors in establishing a long-term working relationship with students, friends, etc.?
3. Tell us about a significant event that involved you in a teaching or helping role.
