| Annual Goals - 2025 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals for the upcoming program year |
| Goal #1 |
For the 2025-2026 academic year, we will continue improving documentation of our formal and informal advising structures to ensure candidates receive strong, consistent support throughout the program and towards licensure. While we have made progress in record-keeping, further refinement is needed to develop a streamlined system that provides clear evidence for DESE. We are optimistic that new software systems Longy will implement in the near future will enhance comprehensive record-keeping and accessibility, strengthening our ability to track and document advising interactions effectively. |
| Goal #2 |
A primary goal for the upcoming year is implementation of the 2024 PST and CAP standards. We will be working closely with faculty, staff, SPs, and PSs over the coming months to ensure that Longy is ready to fully support teacher candidates with a smooth transition for the 2025-2026 academic year. |
| Goal #3 |
Longy is committed to placing students in the best placements possible for their pre-practicum and practicum placements. As we build more relationships with partner organizations and K-12 schools, we continue to seek out placements for field experiences that will best serve our students through consistent and intentional evaluation of current placements and active recruitment of new supervising practitioners. |

|
Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
| Goal #1 |
We aim to continue improving documentation related to our formal and informal advising and advising structures. Opportunities for advising, and the quality of those interactions are robust and supportive throughout candidates' progress through the program and towards licensure and we aim to improve the record keeping processes so we can provide adequate evidence for DESE of these interactions. |
| Goal #2 |
At Longy, we believe there is still more we can do to improve reciprocal relationships with partners, finding more opportunities for K-12 students to interact with the Longy community, and opportunities for the Longy community to provide support to K-12 schools. We hope to strengthen these relationships through more in-person interactions, leveraging resources and opportunities we have available, especially through the Teacher Education department. We have created several tools through which we have collected valuable feedback on the educator preparation program from our partners and will work to include those suggestions as we continue to improve the program. |
| Goal #3 |
There is always room for growth in the improvement of processes around documentation of CAP files and evidence of teacher candidate experiences. While more supervising practitioners attended and accessed CAP trainings provided by the Assistant Director of Teacher Education, we hope to provide more accessibility to these trainings to help supervising practitioners have an easier time with the CAP platform. By streamlining these trainings and systems, we hope to decrease SPs time spent on paperwork and increase their time spent mentoring teacher candidates and teaching music in their classrooms. |
| Annual Goals - 2023 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
| Goal #1 |
While both formal and informal advising and advising structures are robust and supporting candidates' progress through the program and towards licensure, we aim to improve the record keeping processes around the advising that is occurring so we can provide adequate evidence to DESE in the future. |
| Goal #2 |
Maintain and improve our reciprocal relationships with partners, especially through ways in which Longy can support P-12 music educators and their students. We hope to do this not only through relationships with the supervising practitioners we work with, but also on larger district levels, getting the word out about supports we already offer, as well as expanding the ways in which we can support K-12 districts. |
| Goal #3 |
Our third goal for the next academic year is to continue improving our processes around documenting of CAP files and teacher candidate experiences. While we believe the processes are occurring adequately, it was evident in our Fall 2022 informal review, that documentation of these things is a needed area of improvement. |
