Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2024
Goal #1 We are introducing a new student satisfaction survey tool given to all levels of students to better understand the needs of our students. The data will also provide critical information to guide data-driven decision making.
Goal #2 The programs will be piloting curriuclum literacy assignments in the fall to determine best practices to build towards expeience with the rubric dimensions provided.
Goal #3 Building off of a pilot this past year, the literacy apprenticeship course will be partnering with both a school-based program as well as our local boys and girls club for afternoon options.

Annual Goals - 2023
Goal #1 In collaboration with ort partner districts WSU will formalizing MOU documents with our primary districts will be establish with the goal of 6 MOU's completed in 2023-2024.
Goal #2 Throughout 2023-2024, WSU will establish a process for evaluating field-based placements, guided by the early literacy standards and the program approval guidelines, with a focus on equitable placements and placements that align with both the licensure pillars and DESE expectations.
Goal #3 In August of 2023, the education department and the Office of Teacher Licensure will be relocating back to the newly renovated Parenzo building. Being able to use the newly updated classroom spaces, spaces better supporting community, and finalize process and procedures with our new space and storage capabilities will support instruction and organizational area.

Annual Goals - 2022
Goal #1 Westfield has entered into a new partnership with Discovery High School in the Springfield Empowerment Zone. WSU will begin offering education coursework to students in the high school building in the spring of 2023 and hosting collaborative meeting with faculty and staff to build out future offerings throughout the school year.
Goal #2 Using data from the Gateway Assessments, our Dispositional Assessment, and our Student Teacher Survey, WSU will gather data the effectiveness of our Social Justice and ARE curriculum and instruction. Revisions will be made based on data findings.
Goal #3 Curricular revisions to the Education Core including additions to address changing SMKs and PSTs are being fully implemented in 22-23.
