Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Data last updated May 14, 2026.

Annual Goals - 2025
Goal #1 By June 2026, Springfield College will strengthen partnerships with our main partners including: Springfield Public Schools, Brunton Elementary School, Early Literacy Consortium (HWRSD, Agawam, Dudley Charlton, West Springfield, Gateway Regional, Worcester State, WNEU, AIC, and Springfield College), and the Western Mass Literacy Collaborative (WMLC) by co-developing and implementing initiatives focused on improving PK-12 student outcomes, with particular emphasis on advancing educational equity and inclusivity for historically marginalized student populations. Progress will be measured through maintaining formal partnership agreements (MOUs), participating in joint professional development sessions designed to support diverse learner needs.
Goal #2 By August 2025, Springfield College will fully align all EDUC and PEHE undergraduate and graduate licensure program dispositions, practicum expectations, assignments, and handbooks to the 2023 revised Essential Elements and Professional Standards for Teachers (PSTs). Alignment will be achieved by reviewing practicum and fieldwork requirements with an equity and inclusion lens, and revising practicum assignments, expectations, and handbooks to ensure all candidates are prepared to meet the updated standards
Goal #3 100% of program supervisors will receive training in the new CAP platform and the essential elements with a focus on providing high-quality feedback to teacher candidates by September 30, 2025.

Annual Goals - 2024
Goal #1 Strengthen community partnerships to increase enrollment in the teacher licensure pathway by establishing a 2+2 program with an area community college. Through this partnership, we will revise our Step Up Para program to support more paraprofessionals with a pathway to earning their bachelor's, master's degree, and teacher licensure at a reduced rate. Year 1 goal is to establish the partnership and align coursework between the associates of ed at the community college and the bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. Long-term goal is the have the participants enter the graduate licensure program directly from the ECE bachelor's or have a 1 year extension to earn licensure.
Goal #2 Continue to develop and implement Culturally Responsive Teaching/Anti-Racist Practices (CRT) throughout the course of study for each program. Use results from the Multicultural awareness survey sent to PK-12 students to inform specific action steps.
Goal #3 Improve TC Field-Based Experiences by ensuring 100% of PS and SPs have access to high-quality training and technical support throughout the year. For SPs, provide at least 1 asynchronous training per semester and monthly optional support sessions focused on strong feedback for students, the Essential Elements, and CAP technical support. Provide all PS with 2 mandatory PD sessions (at the beginning of each semester) focused on CAP guideline updates and revisions to Springfield College's requirements. Engage the PS in a book study using the book "The Identity Conscious Educator" (aligned to our CRT work)
