Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
| Goal #1 |
Update Gateway I & Gateway II (formative) assessments to align with updated CAP rubric. Communicate with faculty, develop and deploy a survey for assessment feedback. Going forward, Gateway data can then be used as a proper formative assessment tool in language and implementation, and compared to summative CAP data. |
| Goal #2 |
In anticipation of DESE's Early literacy initiatives – incorporating Wilson Reading Training into programs of study for MAT elementary & MEd Special Education K-8 teacher licensure courses and across programs of study. This will entail revising curriculum as well as updating programs of study in these 2 strands. DESE is offering an opportunity to engage with an outside organization to review our curriculum, offer feedback, and develop a report on areas of strength and areas for development. This will entail revisions across a minimum of 10 classes. |
| Goal #3 |
Increase academic support for graduate students who experienced opportunity gaps in their educations. These supports include: Convening a leadership round table for superintendents and principals focused on sharing strategies for building and retaining a diverse teaching workforce and promoting program expansion to other districts. The faculty lead will guide potential students through the application process – tracking them from the beginning of the process, following up with individuals, offering mentoring and advising throughout their programs of study. Teacher Candidates will use their own schools as the site for experiential field work in their classrooms and schools. Develop and deliver MTEL workshops across the year through synchronous and asynchronous online meetings. |
