Annual Goals - 2024 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals for the upcoming program year |
Goal #1 |
To continue our partnership with Haverhill Public Schools and expand the number of para/aide educators seeking initial licensure through the Haverhill Fellowship cohort model. |
Goal #2 |
The School of Social Work is seeking accreditation through CSWS and look forward to submitting materials and a successful review. This will strengthen our School Adjustment Counselor Initial Licensure Pathway for candidates enrolled in our MSW program. |
Goal #3 |
We are in the process of streamlining our Fellowship Teacher Candidate Program with our Teacher Candidate Initial Licensure programs. This integration is an opportunity for students to be enrolled in courses and seminars with their teacher candidate peers. The yearlong practicum for Fellowship students will be reduced to a one semester practicum in accordance with all our other initial teacher candidate programs. |

Goal #1 |
WSESP will focus on providing high quality instructional materials (HQIM) in the graduate and undergraduate methods courses based on the HQIM curriculum used in our partnership schools. We will ensure that the HQIM are aligned to the Massachusetts standards and exhibit a coherent sequence of target skills, instructional practices, and understandings. We will review materials and educate our students on strategies to ensure the materials are accessible for all students, including students with disabilities, students above and below grade level, English learners, and students of color. Additionally, Merrimack College plans to partner with Andover Public Schools and CREST Collaborative to learn the needs of their schools and provide our students the same High Quality Instructional Materials in their coursework. This is a Massachusetts grant funded initiative we are participating in. |
Goal #2 |
As part of of continuous improvement plan, we plan to align and realign our online and on ground Masters of Education Programs. Faculty point people will be assigned teams of adjunct and full time instructors to work on a cohesive plan to align our programs and create a syllabus template for each of the courses as well as a Canvas shell that will be used as a basis by all instructors, online or on ground. |
Goal #3 |
Merrimack partnered with Haverhill schools to create a program to help paraprofessionals to earn their teaching license and Masters degree through a two year program of classes and field experiences. This will improve teacher diversity and retention for the district. We are seeking to expand this program to other districts |
