Educator preparation program improvement goals for the upcoming program year |
Goal #1 |
The Education Department will initiate the secondary phase of the full review of licensure program curricula. The work of this curriculum review phase will focus on (1) gathering curricula content and materials used in coursework, (2) continue collecting feedback from faculty, partners, and students through interviews and surveys, and (3) begin mapping the curriculum to program outcomes to ensure alignment and coherence across the program. |
Goal #2 |
The Education Department will work to revise and update the graduate program catalog. This will include a review of all program policies, course titles and descriptions, and program outlines. Any revisions will be put through the college governance model. The finalized catalog will be submitted for online publication on the college's website to mirror the undergraduate online catalog. |
Goal #3 |
The Education Department will review, revise, and pilot pedagogical and curricular tools and supports for teacher candidates in the area of evidence-based early literacy instruction. This goal is focused on supporting teacher candidates in both deepening their knowledge of literacy development and implementing inclusive and culturally responsive practices. |

Engage in continued efforts to develop a mission statement for the Education Department. |
Goal #3 |
Drawing on foundational work in this area, create a system to collect, manage, analyze, and act on data from various sources including from stakeholders, partners, MCLA, and external sources. This system will be used to inform the MCLA Education Department's efforts to improve all aspects of our programs, including efforts to racially diversify our student body and to address issues of systemic bias and marginalization. |
