Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.
Data last updated January 16, 2025.

Annual Goals - 2024
Goal #1 During the upcoming academic year leading up to a formal review visit, our program will gather data on the impact of our practices more extensively and comprehensively, utilizing a range of measures such as state outcome data and feedback gathered from stakeholders. We commit to ongoing monitoring of our program and diligently recording pertinent information to facilitate interim reviews conducted by DESE as required before the formal review. Throughout this approval process, our organization will remain steadfast in our efforts to monitor and document our program's effectiveness continuously.
Goal #2 The educational department recognizes the importance of reviewing the professional dispositions of our students. To address this need, we will develop class discussions and assignments to enhance students' understanding of these crucial aspects. Through targeted activities and open dialogue, we aim to foster a more profound comprehension of professional dispositions among our students, thereby equipping them with the necessary skills and attitudes for success in their future endeavors.
Goal #3 The Education Department will collaborate closely with admissions to boost enrollment in our Autism endorsement pathway and para-to-teacher pipeline group. We will employ strategic marketing initiatives to target school districts to raise awareness of these valuable opportunities. By effectively promoting these programs, we aim to attract a diverse pool of candidates passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and aspiring to pursue careers in education.

Annual Goals - 2023
Goal #1 We will continue to use and introduce the Field Base Experience (FBE) journal. Using the connections to course reflective assignments and guiding questions around the Professional Standards for Teachers (PST.) We believe this journal will allow the teacher candidates to look back on their journey toward their practicum - and a stepping tool towards their professional practice goal during their practicum.
Goal #2 This past academic year, we have finalized our courses that will lead to an endorsement of Autism - and have started the process to have the courses approved through the colleges' curriculum committee. We have continued the conversation with Quincy Public Schools and added that discussion to our neighboring school districts - Braintree, Brockton, Weymouth, and Randolph to survey the need to provide classes and support to their teachers. This year, we hope to finalize the process with DESE and start offering courses and a method of endorsement in Autism.
Goal #3 The ENC faculty will continue to develop practical Gateway assessments to use with our teacher candidates, providing feedback about areas for improvement and areas of strength as they prepare for the practicum experience. To help in this process, we will recreate the partnership panel with reorientations from our partner schools to assist us in improving our student experience within their building. We are working on developing a partnership with Boston Public Schools to offer college courses for entering high school seniors. This partnership is also at its beginning stages for Quincy Public Schools. We are finalizing a new partnership for paraprofessionals (para-to-teacher pipeline) in the Quincy school district wishing to obtain a teacher's initial license.
