Annual Goals - 2023

Annual Goals - 2022
Goal #1 Finalize and implement two mutually-beneficial field placement partnerships with the Burke High School and Mendell School in Boston.
Goal #2 Increase number of courses that can be completed online to facilitate greater access to our programs and hopefully increase enrollment in high-need areas.
Goal #3 Expand 'add-on' licensure options to complement existing programs and help fulfill need in districts to employ teachers who posses more than one license. We are currently reviewing the ESL add-on option for our Secondary, Elementary, SPED, and World Languages program.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 BU Wheelock faculty and staff approved a new strategic plan and mission and guide star, that centers our work in transforming systems to help form a more just future in Boston and beyond. Importantly, this new strategic plan establishes benchmarks to increase our presence in Boston, through prioritizing field placements, research, and increasing opportunities for Boston Public Schools teachers and paraprofessionals to enroll at Boston University.
Goal #2 BU-Wheelock has developed a set of field placement guidelines to support implementation of the new strategic plan. These guidelines set a goal for all education programs to achieve at least 50% of field placements in Boston. Another key part of these guidelines is to develop and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships with key schools in diverse and low income communities in Boston.
Goal #3 BU-Wheelock will be phasing out all undergraduate licensure programs, with the exception of Math and Science. Faculty have approved a single, new undergraduate major in education and human development that provides pathways for students to explore the education profession, among other professions, and pursue licensure as part of graduate and 'plus-one' programs. The new program is interdisciplinary, aligned with our guide star, and focused on promoting equity.
