Annual Goals - 2023 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
With increased focus on the importance of utilizing high quality instructional materials, we will work to Identify partner districts that utilize HQIM (high quality instructional materials) and prioritize field placements in these districts when possible allowing more explicit instruction in methods courses associated with pre-practicum experiences. |
Goal #2 |
The Director of Education Programs will work cooperatively with the AMC Admissions Dept. and local high school guidance departments to identify applicants interested in Education and engage in frequent outreach to these students through email, phone and in-person meetings. We will work to recruit diverse candidates through these processes. |
Goal #3 |
Improve undergraduate student MTEL pass rates (or approved alternative testing) through the implementation of a mandatory one credit MTEL prep. course with the possibility of students repeating the course for zero credit if additional one time, if necessary. This course will be in addition to the available tutors through the Student Academic Success Center. |
Annual Goals - 2022 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
We are currently in discussions with local school districts to offer Dual Enrollment/ Early College classes to juniors and seniors. This will focus on first generation students and expose them to the requirements of the Ed Prep Program and college in general. |
Goal #2 |
We are working on a plan to assist local educators on emergency licensure to meet all the requirements for initial licensure. Additionally, we are encouraging any school employees, including paraprofessionals, to consider taking courses to take licensure requirements. |
Goal #3 |
In order to give our sophomore students more experience in the field, we are looking to reimplement a minimum of 20 hours of observation as part of EDU 203 Intro to Teaching. This will allow them to observe master teachers and begin to develop their own pedagogy. |
