Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2022
Goal #1 We plan to propose Special Education -Moderate Needs licensure programs for approval. Special Education teachers are in high demand and short supply, we want to meet the needs of our partners and other local schools by adding these programs to our offerings.
Goal #2 Having articulated our shared program principles, we now plan to develop and implement a set of tools to better support candidates' development of pedagogy related to SEL, UDL, and culturally sustaining/equity-centered practices (e.g. look fors, observation guides, checklists with examples...).
Goal #3 We plan to revisit, and where needed revise, prepracticum assignments to more explicitly develop candidates' recognition and repertoire of SEL, UDL, and culturally sustaining/equity-centered practices in the field.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 Goal #1 is to more explicitly express our program beliefs and practices in program documentation (e.g. catalog, handbook, curriculum handouts); especially beliefs and practices focused on developing skills to implement strategies regarding social and racial justice and meeting the needs of diverse learners. We have shared program beliefs and practices (e.g. a WNE lesson plan template with content, ELA and SEL integrated in every lesson, UDL...) identified within course objectives but need to better articulate our program principles overall.
Goal #2 Continue to develop and expand upon MTEL supports and resources offered for candidates.
Goal #3 Work with DESE to identify program outcomes that more accurately reflect the efficacy of our programs. The current model yields no data for individual programs at our institution.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 Clarify, document in greater depth, program policies and procedures to clear up misunderstandings/miscommunications that occurred during program review.
Goal #2 Implement lesson plan content review by A&S faculty to better gauge accuracy and appropriateness of content in lesson plans (piloted content review rubric with SPs during practicum). This goal also supports new CAP element focused on content.
Goal #3 Implement, and reflect on outcomes of redesigned prepracticum expectations (professionalism and dispositions), assignments and assessments. Use preprac data to revise assignments in coursework as needed based on data collected (program),or to counsel candidates out where needed (individual).
