Annual Goals
This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed. Data last updated October, 04 2023.

Educator preparation program improvement goals for the upcoming program year |
Goal #1 |
Develop and implement a plan for embedding Culturally Responsive Teaching/Anti-Racist Practices throughout the course of study for each program. |
Goal #2 |
Include the continuous improvement cycle in the Educator Preparation Handbook, each department will. "Conduct an annual evaluation, identify areas for improvement, set annual goals, develop an action plan, execute action plan, collect data - make improvements as needed" [Taken from DESE Guidelines for Program Approval]. At the end of each academic year departments will submit to the appropriate Dean, an annual report that follows the continuous improvement cycle detailed above. This is part of the regular Springfield College internal program review and outcomes assessment process. |
Goal #3 |
Finalize a new system for training supervising practitioners (SPs) and pilot this in 2022-2023. The goal is for over 50% of the SPs to earn a certification of completion. |

Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
Establish liaisons to the Educator Preparation Council (EPC Liaison) for every department: education, physical education, counseling and all relevant arts/sciences departments. EPC Liaisons work with their departments to ensure faculty teaching key courses are familiar with test objectives for the MTELs taken by their students. Further, after each department reviews pass rate data, including subarea scores, EPC liaisons work with faculty to improve courses taught with the goal of MTEL subarea scores increasing. |
Goal #2 |
Convene focus groups to gather data on individual program efficacy from candidates. Once data is gathered, analyze the data and make plans for taking action on recommendations. |
Goal #3 |
Analyze Gateway Task I and II data from 2020-2021. Make changes as appropriate to preparation of candidates. Also, upgrade the system used for training practicum supervisors. Implement the new training system in 2022. |

Goal #1 |
Successfully implement as part of our early field-based and pre-practicum experiences the administration and collection of data for the Springfield College newly designed Gateway Tasks I & II. |
Goal #2 |
Use data from the Gateway Tasks and all surveys administered to monitor individual program efficacy. Use these results to make improvements in the future as appropriate. |
Goal #3 |
Fully implement all of the curricular changes made based on the SMK guidelines (including the cross cutting SMKs) and the new Springfield College general education requirements. |
