Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 Centering Anti-Racism in our programs has always been our priority. We will continue this work in partnership with our Justice Equity and Transformation office, to consider strategies to make explicit Anti-Racism in our dispositions rubric and to build affinity group opportunities, particularly for our students of color. We will hold our second annual Art Education speaker series, which centers the contributions of artists and educators from underrepresented groups as a sounding board from which our curricula will build. We will also consider professional development opportunities for our Program Supervisors.
Goal #2 We will refine and implement our Gateway Task 1 in our Pre Practicum 1 course so that it moves more seamlessly into the Saturday Studios course. This has been an area of staffing instability, and we are hiring a full-time faculty to shepherd this process. We will build a more consistent thread from our Pre-Practicum 1 course through the student teaching semester.
Goal #3 We will more fully articulate the ways that our coursework addresses the Subject Matter Crosscutting Matrix and create a more detailed curriculum map for the scope and sequence of where these components are addressed in our program.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 Continue to develop and implement strategies to retain students of color in our licensure programs.
Goal #2 Articulate professional dispositions for our pre-service teachers, and incorporate these expectations throughout our program.
Goal #3 As teaching and learning in the 2020-21 school year may be take place in both virtual and physical environments, the Art Education department will continue to develop resources and supports for our students across platforms.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 Ensure that MassArt continues to provide Supervising Practitioners and Program Supervisors opportunities for training and professional development, and multiple avenues for support, that impacts candidate effectiveness.
Goal #2 Ensure and verify that secured field-based experience placements meet MassArt expectations and regulatory requirements for high-quality placements for all candidates.
Goal #3 Analyze data as to our Candidates of color and develop strategies to support them, including the state licensure tests (MTELs).
