Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 CANDIDATE - TRAIN & SUPPORT: Provide high-quality initial training and ongoing support to teachers and leaders such that they make a significant impact on students. 1) Provide high-quality, centralized training with localized support to incoming cohort of corps members. Train 103 new corps members through centralized and localized programming in Summer 2021. 2) Provide support such that corps members meet the needs of schools. a. Principal Satisfaction Survey: 85% of principals strongly agree and agree that they are satisfied with the partnership their school has with TFA.
Goal #2 CANDIDATE - Participant Satisfaction 1) Foster a strong corps culture such that Massachusetts ranks above TFA national average for overall participant satisfaction. 2) 75% of corps members will Strongly Agree and Agree on the following four survey indicators: • Am growing the capabilities I need to be effective in the classroom • I have the ongoing support that I need from Teach For America to be a successful leader • Within Teach For America, I feel part of a community where corps members are driven to help each other increase collective impact • I am proud to be part of Teach for America.
Goal #3 PARTNERSHIPS - RETAIN: Support teachers and leaders such that they remain in their schools and in the field of education at high rates, building a sustainable pipeline for long-term change. 1) Provide support such that corps members complete their two-year commitment at high rates. a. 2019 teachers: 90% will complete their 2-year commitment b. 2020 teachers: 95% will complete their first year of teaching; in service of 90% completing their 2-year commitment 2) Provide support such that corps members continue to teach beyond their two-year commitment at high rates and mobilize the rest to work towards the fulfillment of our mission from another position in education. 50% of 2019 corps members will stay at their placement school, 70% will continue teaching in MA, 80% continue teaching in US, and 90% will continue to work in education.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 TRAIN & SUPPORT: Provide high-quality initial training and ongoing support to teachers and leaders such that they make a significant impact on students. 1) Provide high-quality, localized training to incoming cohort of corps members. Train 120 new corps members through our sixth regional Lawrence institute in Summer 2019. 2) Our aggregate corps member performance will be a median Student Growth Percentile of 55 (for those classrooms and subjects that we can calculate SGP in) in the 2019-2020 school year. This will be assessed in October 2020 at the release of MCAS results
Goal #2 RETAIN: Support teachers and leaders such that they remain in their schools and in the field of education at high rates, building a sustainable pipeline for long-term change. 1) Foster a strong corps culture such that Massachusetts ranks in the top quartile of all regions as measured by Corps Strength Index (CSI), our measure for corps member satisfaction. 2) Provide support such that corps members complete their two-year commitment at high rates. a. 2018 teachers: 90% will complete their 2-year commitment b. 2019 teachers: 95% will complete their first year of teaching; in service of 90% completing their 2-year commitment
