Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 To reach out to 50 students of color and influence them to become educators; and recruit 10 students of color during the 2020 - 2021 academic year to matriculate in the Teacher Education Program (in fall 2020 and spring 2021)
Goal #2 To continue collaborating with WPS and JET in preparing 20 Para-Professionals for the MTEL exams and 15 to take courses leading to a degree in teaching, and support 5 to achieve a teaching license.
Goal #3 To conduct a needs on Culturally Responsive Teaching and analyze the results to determine next steps for the department as a whole.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 To identify all students of color who enter Stage II and provide support so that more than 50% are retained during the 2019 - 2020 school year
Goal #2 To engage faculty in continued discussion, training and professional development opportunities about affirming diversity, promoting equity, and Cultural Responsive Pedagogy and how they impact teaching practices in classrooms.
Goal #3 To provide MTEL preparation and initial courses leading to Initial licensure for 25 post-bacc teachers in the Worcester Public Schools during the 2019 - 2020 academic year.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 To retain 75% of the students of color currently in the Teacher Education Pathway.
Goal #2 To introduce Culturally Responsive Teaching Pedagogical strategies among faculty and staff in the Education Department.
Goal #3 To provide support for our external partners and Professional Development Schools in meeting their most urgent need to obtain teacher licensure for paraprofessionals.
