Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 Create a common self-assessment instrument to gauge incoming teacher candidate proficiency in background content knowledge to then be utilized as a foundation for developing individual growth plans.
Goal #2 Expand the comprehensive training protocol for program supervisors and faculty towards a full implementation of practicum and pre-practicum requirements, including gateway tasks and consistent portfolio collection across programs.
Goal #3 Enhance and measure increased knowledge and developed skills of cross cutting SMKs in ELA, digital literacy and inclusive pedagogy across the coursework and clinical experiences.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 We will increase our retention rate for diverse GSOE students by strategically planning supports, modelling inclusive teaching, and implementing an early warning system. The goal is to prepare a greater percentage of diverse completers licensed to enter the teaching profession.
Goal #2 We will intentionally recruit and admit candidates from diverse populations by cultivating existing relationships with various communities and developing new partnerships in high need areas.
Goal #3 We will increase graduate students' perception of their preparation to teach and depth of knowledge by making visible critical cross cutting standards, curriculum construction, and program goals.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Working with Brockton Public Schools, we will continue to grow and develop our expertise and curriculum content on parent and community involvement, especially in diverse communities. This involves working with Brockton teachers and parents in alliance with a local community-based partner.
Goal #2 Continue to build systems of data collection and retrieval that are easy, accessible and available to faculty and staff for analysis, including tying in state reported data from ELAR and EDWIN.
Goal #3 Do focused work to strengthen our early filed experiences including, providing a variety of sites that are available for our candidates at hours other than traditional school times, develop and utilize specific feedback to candidates multiple times prior to the practicum, deepen the tie of early field experiences with course work and key assignments.
