Annual Goals
This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed. Data last updated October, 04 2023.

Goal #1 |
Ensure that MassArt continues to provide Supervising Practitioners and Program Supervisors opportunities for training and professional development, and multiple avenues for support, that impacts candidate effectiveness. |
Goal #2 |
Ensure and verify that secured field-based experience placements meet MassArt expectations and regulatory requirements for high-quality placements for all candidates. |
Goal #3 |
Analyze data as to our Candidates of color and develop strategies to support them, including the state licensure tests (MTELs). |

Goal #1 |
Ensure recruitment, selection and evaluations result in the hiring of effective faculty/instructors and staff. |
Goal #2 |
Ensure that the Sponsoring Organization allocates resources to better support the needs of the Art Education Department and the sustainability of its teacher preparation programs. |
Goal #3 |
Ensure candidates receive targeted feedback from faculty and instructors in coursework that improves their teaching and art practice. Coursework includes pre-practicum and practicum experiences, as well as courses that focus on populations other than k-12 and in learning/teaching sites in museums, galleries, and community settings. Coursework also includes the Interdisciplinary Studio courses in the art Education Department, which focus on students' development and progress of their art practice. |

Goal #1 |
Increase organizational support for effective preparation programs by appointing an Associate Dean of Education (July 2017). Among many roles, this administrator position will provide leadership for further implementing state regulations and developing the partnership with Boston Public Schools in the context of a global college of art and design. |
Goal #2 |
Implement consistent and targeted ways to document and monitor student progress in studio and pedagogical practices through pre-practicum and practicum experiences. |
Goal #3 |
Program an enhanced and effective training and support plan for Supervising Practitioners and Program Supervisors to impact candidate effectiveness as artist teachers. |
