Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 Recognizing the importance of Social/Emotional issues that students in PreK-12 schools are facing, the goal is to think more strategically about how to increase the coverage of the competency in program coursework to more thoroughly address the Social/Emotional PST: Social and Emotional Learning Indicator: Employs a variety of strategies to assist students to develop social emotional-competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making and provide candidates a knowledge base to use for addressing students' needs in this area. One strategy we will look to use is partnering with SEAM to offer workshops for our students on SEL topics
Goal #2 Goal: To strengthen candidates' ability to meet the diverse needs of their students we will: 1. work closely with PSs to support candidate growth in strategies to address the needs of students 2. Work with SPs during CAP training to increase their knowledge of strategies to use with candidates for addressing the diverse needs of students
Goal #3 Goal: continue to work on strengthening the current partnerships that we have established

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Reduce the class size for the ELL Curriculum and Methods course, limiting the size to no more than 20. Adding additional topics based on candidate surveys: additional teaching strategies and more focus on WIDA.
Goal #2 With the upcoming adjustments/changes to the SMKs, we will explore the possibility of changing the current content requirements to more closely align with the SMKs, particularly for the Early Childhood, Elementary and Moderate Disabilities candidates. We will be exploring shifting one of the Lab Sciences to focus on engineering and explore the current math curriculum looking to more closely align it with current practice in the K-12 schools.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 ENC will continue to work on strengthening the partnerships and look at the possibility of expanding it to include a local high school.
Goal #2 To strengthen candidates' content knowledge connections with the Curriculum Frameworks.
Goal #3 Focus on developing candidates' skills to more fully and effectively address the learning needs of ELL students.
