Goal #1 |
Based on recent changes in leadership in the Worcester Public Schools, the TEP at Holy Cross is once again aiming to sustain and expand our partnership with the district. We value the urban experience and believe in using these field based experiences as a bridge between our higher ed institution and the surrounding community. By continuing to place students in the high schools and middle schools in Worcester for their early Field Based Experiences, Pre-Practicum, and Practicum, we aim to encourage graduates of the TEP to remain in Worcester and teach in the WPS District during their first years of employment and beyond. If students develop meaningful relationships with their Supervising Practitioners and other mentors in the buildings in which they are placed, we hope they will want to stay, despite the pull of graduate schools, fellowship opportunities, and home states. |
Goal #2 |
ESE is has placed a strong emphasis on the collection and use of data in order to inform SO's decisions and continuous improvement in Ed Prep Programs - particularly with Edwin Analytics and and the new EPAS. Since Holy Cross is such a small program, we are often unable to utilize the data collected by ESE due to n size. Therefore, we aim to collect and analyze our own data through feedback surveys that include qualitative sections and make changes to our field based experiences, courses (where possible), events and program offerings, etc. |
Goal #3 |
Based on recent feedback from students regarding course offerings as well staffing changes in the Education Department for the 2018-2019 school year, we plan to provide more opportunities for students to learn about topics in Special Education and Social-Emotional Learning and to engage with these areas in both academic settings and field based experiences. Specifically, we will offer two new courses: Supporting Students in Mental Health & Special Education. We will then survey students and analyze their responses as well as their Course Evaluation Forms in order to determine if they felt as though their needs were being met. |
Annual Goals - 2017 |

Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
HC will offer two methods courses in F17: STEM and Humanities. The Director of the TEP will work to aligning Methods courses to new PSTs. She will review syllabi provided by both STEM and Humanities adjunct professors, and compare them to syllabi for similar courses offered at other SOs. This way we can ensure that TCS are receiving instruction in theory and PSTs not just best practices. |
Goal #2 |
The program will continue to work on sustaining and expanding our partnerships with the Worcester Public Schools and our network of SPs and PSs to fulfill the needs of our Holy Cross TEP students. |
Goal #3 |
The TEP plans to expand recruiting to all departments on campus with development of highlights video that can be shown at Open Houses, Academic Fairs, New Student Orientations, and in Academic classes. By creating a video, prospective TCs will have a better understanding of what the TEP is and how it can prepare them for employment upon graduation. |
