Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 The new Wheelock College of Education & Human Development at BU is engaged in a comprehensive review of all programs and strategic initiatives, with a focus on strengthening our community partnerships, including Boston. This review involves developing strategic indicators that takes into account Wheelock's vision, market feasibility, community and/or student need, academic outcomes and faculty capacity.
Goal #2 The new Office of Professional Preparation and key faculty are leading a working group to develop common field policies that will seek to strengthen field experiences and partnerships, and develop clear guidelines, policies and procedures that ensures all field experiences are highly effective and advance Wheelock's vision.
Goal #3 Together with program faculty, we are reviewing the new SMK and pre-practicum changes and guiding implementation of the new requirements across all programs. This review will ensure that programs are consistent in implementing changes, and engaged in continuous improvement. This coming year will be finalizing our plan for implementation and navigating internal approvals, with full implementation in advance of academic year 2020-2021.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Given the Wheelock College/Boston University merger it is important for us to assess the status of the current SED partnerships and current Wheelock College partnerships and develop a model for fostering and promoting fully reciprocal partnerships with schools, particularly with Boston Public Schools, with a specific goal of preparing teacher candidates to effectively teach in urban schools.
Goal #2 Given the BU -Wheelock merger there are opportunities to improve process and procedures for practicum placement, and increase effectiveness of the practicum experience on teacher candidate performance through leveraging the CAP to serve as an effective tool for evaluating candidate performance. BU has the goal of increasing the regularity of training and professional development with program supervisors and supervising practitioners across educator preparation programs.
Goal #3 Assess the status of the current SED pipeline approaches and those of the current Wheelock College to clarify educator licensure pathways for teacher candidates and increase pipeline of candidates entering programs and pursuing teaching careers in high need areas, including Special Education, ESL and STEM

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 To expand long term partnerships with BPS to additional schools within BPS for the purpose of increasing the pipeline from educator preparation at BU to teaching professionals in BPS schools. This goal is facilitated by EPIC partnership grants received by SED from DESE.
Goal #2 Continue formative and conduct summative evaluation of CAP implementation for the purpose of refining the process, as a part of our ongoing program evaluation efforts designed to improve outcomes for teacher candidates.
Goal #3 Increase the clarity of pathways to licensure for BU undergraduate and graduate students in schools and colleges other than SED (e.g. College of Arts and Sciences) designed to increase the number of STEM prepared educators.
