Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Social Justice is a core tenet of the program that undergirds all coursework. We plan to make this through line even more explicit for students and revisit our curricular materials and instructional strategies in this area.
Goal #2 Examine and Strengthen the early undergraduate pre-practicum field experience. With the new pre-practicum guidelines for Massachusetts, we plan to revisit our the early pre-practicum coursework taken in the first three years of undergraduate study, particularly to make sure that candidates have ample opportunities to enact strategies they are learning in coursework and engage with k-12 students in meaningful ways.
Goal #3 We are continuing to strengthen our outreach and recruitment efforts for candidates to enlarge and diversity our applicant pool.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 In 2015- 2017, we have deepened our connections with our placement sites by offering professional development sessions for Supervising Practitioners, and by working with district personnel to better understand and address their needs. In 2017-18 we will continue these efforts to strengthen and formalize our relationships with partner schools and districts.
Goal #2 We will document how we are meeting the all of the Program Approval Criteria as part of our program review. We will use this opportunity to continue to strengthen our use of survey and other data collected by the program and by the state.
Goal #3 In 2015-17, we have already been working to align our courses vertically and horizontally attending to the scope and sequence. In 2017-18, we will continue this work with the goal of creating even clearer through-lines in the course sequence.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Implement new pro-seminar for teacher education programs.
Goal #2 Make revisions to the Teacher Leadership Program and welcome second cohort.
Goal #3 Implement the revised CAP standards.
