Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Evaluate most recent two years (15-16 and 16-17) of pre-practicums and see how to enhance this experience to be most meaningful while still working within the confines of students' busy schedules.
Goal #2 Hire additional adjunct program supervisors to allow program staff more flexibility for other elements of the program.
Goal #3 Explore who it makes the most sense to partner with and how to deepen that/those relationship(s).

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Finalize PST plan, making any necessary edits based on partner feedback and pilot, and fully implement
Goal #2 Create sequencing plan for education courses to better help students take these courses before/during student teaching. Create a waiver policy for students who wish to request special permission to do something different than the desired sequence.
Goal #3 Create a stronger field placement process for the practicum to better pair mentors with student teachers.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 The PST plan was finalized and fully implemented this year.
Goal #2 There is now a sequencing for education courses and field experiences. A waiver policy is in place if needed.
Goal #3 An application is being used to help select supervising practitioners.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Move the application process to earlier sophomore year.
Goal #2 Update advising plan so it is consistent for all students with multiple touch points to increase support/advising of Teacher Preparation students.
Goal #3 Update PSTs and pilot them.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 All students who applied and interviewed did so earlier in the month of April and all then received final decisions almost a month prior to the previous year.
Goal #2 An advising plan was created so that students receive more feedback when accepted, during the pre-practicum, throughout the practicum, and during senior year. The majority of these pieces were implemented in 2015-2016 with the rest to be rolled out in 2016-2017. Staff to lead these elements were also identified.
Goal #3 An initial crosswalk of PSTs in WPI courses was created and certain courses/experiences were changed to include PST elements. These elements were piloted with students during the academic year.
