Annual Goals
This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Expand full year clinical experience to secondary programs: History (5-8, 8-12) Initial licensure candidates were enrolled in a full year clinical experience |
Goal #2 |
Increase Live Text membership from 61% to 80%: Live Text membership is required by all teacher candidates. In order to increase communication about the membership, twice a semester Live Text messages are posted on the outdoor electronic signs and letters sent to teacher candidates home every summer from the Dean of Education office about licensure requirements includes Live Text membership information. As a result of these efforts we now have 80% of the teacher candidates taking key assessment courses and doing practicum with Live Text membership during AY 2016-2017 |

Increase recruitment/acceptance of students of color from 4 acceptances to 8 acceptances into the Reach To Teach program: As of 3/27/17 WSU admission's report on Reach to Teach, six students were accepted and 4 students were under review. Please note at the time of this report, information does not include the students who "deposited" to the university. |

Goal #1 |
A "Reach to Teach" (RTT) brochure was developed and distributed to Springfield Public Schools' students, school committee members, principals, guidance counselors, and Westfield State Administration, Foundation Office and faculty. 5 RTT Information sessions were held between November and December of 2015 for high school seniors. A total of 59 students who expressed an interest in teaching attended. 1. 17 students applied to WSU - 4 were accepted (1 special education, 1 science, 1 elementary and 1 early education). 6 RTT Information session were held between February and March of 2016 for high school juniors. |

Goal #3 |
No notable change in data collected by faculty using the assessment management system. However, there is a significant increase in the return rate for the Alumni Survey. The response rate increase by 61% for the alum graduating from the Initial licensure programs and a 200% increase for alum graduating from the Professional licensure programs. |
