This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Launch newly designed pre-practicum structure and gather feedback from stakeholders.
Goal #2 Launch English as a Second Language (ES) Certificate program and gather feedback from stakeholders.
Goal #3 Revamp the MAT Professional coursework.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Revamp our field experiences so they align with and scaffold into the new Candidate Assessment of Performance.
Goal #2 Align our curriculum with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's new Professional Standards for Teaching.
Goal #3 Field test the new CAP Assessment of Performance program wide and prepare stakeholders for the required shift in fall 2016.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 We completely reorganized the field experiences component of the MAT Initial licensure program that is much more structured, developmental and aligned with both coursework and overall program goals. The process is complete and we have implemented the new structure this year.
Goal #2 The MAT program courses were modified and aligned to the new professional standards for teachers. The updated courses, some with new titles and prefixes to more appropriately identify key course concepts, were rolled out fall 2015.
Goal #3 We piloted the Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) fall 2015 and spring 2016 to gather feedback from our stakeholders for the official launch in 2016-2017. Additionally, we centralized the practicum orientation and training components associated with CAP.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Continue to refine assessment plan
Goal #2 Enhance student advising procedures
Goal #3 Refine committee and communication structures

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 We have refined the assessment of our early field experiences and begun work to streamline our electronic portfolio.
Goal #2 Program wide advising sessions are organized each semester to ensure that each student receives individualized advising. Multiple sessions are offered, each focusing on specific programs, where students are provided with programmatic updates, licensure updates and registration assistance. Students are also given an individualized course sequence upon admission.
Goal #3 We continue to utilize regular communication with students through multiple channels including frequent email updates regarding upcoming events and program information and the MAT Handbook which outlines all programmatic information . We created task-specific working groups within the department in an effort to allow for expeditious decisions within larger Department meetings. We adopted the Meetingwise rolling agenda protocol within all MAT committees and working groups to document progress and decisions.
