Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Development of general courses not tied to teacher preparation that can be used as electives across other graduate programs at Simmons.
Goal #2 Development of an Educational Studies minor/major.
Goal #3 Improved CAP training for field supervisors, using feedback provided by assessment conducted by TPI-US in Fall 2016.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Successful integration of the CAP standards across all programs.
Goal #2 Successful integration of the new Professional Standards for Teachers across the curriculum in all programs.
Goal #3 Modification of our current General Education/Moderate Disabilities licensure program to include more social-emotional learning content.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Candidate Assessment of Performance has been successfully implemented in all programs.
Goal #2 Professional Standards for Teachers have been successfully implemented in all programs.
Goal #3 Integration of social-emotional content across general education and Moderate Disabilities program is ongoing.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Explore possibility of modifying the Master of Arts in Teaching curriculum to make room for more electives in the program
Goal #2 Continue to explore the possibility of discontinuing the under-enrolled Moderate Disabilities program and recruiting more students into our general education/Moderate dual licensure program
Goal #3 Use feedback from Supervising Practitioners to guide modifications to our clinical programs

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 A previously required course in the MAT program has been made optional, allowing students in the program somewhat more flexibility in pursuing electives.
Goal #2 Discussion about the elimination of the Moderate-only program continues; currently the department is developing new coursework in the dual Moderate/General Education licensure program which may eventually result in the Moderate-only program being phased out.
Goal #3 Introduction of the CAP pilot during the 2015-2016 AY has resulted in ongoing modifications to our clinical programs.
