Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Revamp the first two education courses to include strategies designed to increase student success.
Goal #2 Work with our campus PreK-8 Innovation school to improve early and on-going field experiences for our candidates.
Goal #3 Continue to involve the Advisory Board in providing input on our success in preparing teachers in the area of assessment, classroom management, and content.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Review undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs to determine appropriate expansion as well as consolidation.
Goal #2 Broaden and expand opportunities for pre-practicum candidates that meet the needs of candidates, the institution, and PK-12 districts/school partners.
Goal #3 Recruit, support, and retain diverse candidates.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 We are closing 12 low-enrolled licensure programs. We are developing a new 41 hybrid-model Middle School program.
Goal #2 We have completed a systematic review of our partnerships. We are exploring deeper initiatives with four of those partner districts.
Goal #3 We have increased MTEL support systems and developed a Student Success Plan.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Incorporate the new PSTs into all of our educator preparation programs.
Goal #2 Incorporate the new SMKs, when released, into all of our educator preparation programs.
Goal #3 Align our key assessments to the new PSTs and SMKs and train all faculty on the new forms, processes, and procedures that will be created.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The new Professional Standards for Teachers (PSTs) were incorporated into all of our undergraduate teacher preparation programs, and they are being incorporated into all of our graduate teacher preparation programs.
Goal #2 The new Subject Matter Knowledge Requirements were released; however, they have not been approved yet.
Goal #3 All Education faculty were trained on the new PSTs, and the new PSTs were incorporated into our key assessments for all undergraduate teacher preparation programs. The new PSTs were incorporated into our key assessments for many of our graduate teacher preparation programs and will be incorporated in all graduate teacher preparation programs by June 15th. As stated above, the new Subject Matter Knowledge Requirements were released but not approved.
