Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Establish strong, continuous, ongoing collaboration with Partner Schools with onsite visits, professional development offering, and ongoing collaboration at Partnership Advisory Meetings.
Goal #2 Develop ongoing field experience that incorporates six Essential elements for Effective teaching both in course work and field work by conducting surveys and meetings with partner shcools and working to establish new partnerships.
Goal #3 Update candidate Assessment with new Professional Dispositions rubric connected to Professional Standards for teaching and Department's Learning Goals

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Required that all courses be aligned with Professional Standards for teachers with products (outcomes) that students produce to meet PST indicator.
Goal #2 Engage is regular communication with Partner schools to receive input on Professional Development needs.
Goal #3 Provide two Symposiums to highlight the Professional Culture standard by having students actively embrace opportunities to engage with others from diverse backgrounds.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 PST alignment- The Department successfully met its goal to have all courses aligned with Professional Standards for teacher with products that students produced. The evidence was gathered in portfolios and end of semester presentations.
Goal #2 Partner School engagement- The Department as successful in acquiring five additional schools for Partnerships. We hired Pre-Practicum coordinators to visit our partner schools on a weekly basis.
Goal #3 Symposium and Professional Culture The Department met its goal by providing two Symposiums:Fall 2106: Self-Identity and Powerful Literacy: Pedagogy for Authentic Change: Junia Yearwood, Founder and Facilitator: Boston Teachers' Reading and Writing Group "Off Script". Spring 2017: Education as Mirror and Window: Dr. Susan Fleming, Ed.D. Professor of Education, Goddard College

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Align all course work with the Professional Standards for Teachers by defining the pedagogical and other professional knowledge skills required for preserve teachers.
Goal #2 Continue to expand and develop strong partnerships with neighborhood schools to build on the resources though which teacher candidates are developing from pre-practicum students to licensed teacher.
Goal #3 Review all Education courses to assure that courses meet the needs of DESE as outline in Section 7.08 of 603 CMR 7.00 Regulations for Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Met the goal of aligning all course work with the new PST. Conducted bi-monthly meetings to review program.
Goal #2 Increased partnership schools by providing direct visits to schools. Provided professional development opportunities to schools.
Goal #3 Each Department meeting was focused on new DESE requirements. All Department members attended at least one DESE meeting.
