Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Strengthen partnerships with network schools to provide pre-service SEI experiences.
Goal #2 Strengthen support of Supervising Practitioners to deepen understanding of adult learning and feedback cycle.
Goal #3 Increase university coursework for candidates and supervising practitioners.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Develop an explicit plan and provide for support during the transition in program leadership.
Goal #2 Identify and develop network school partnerships in order to offer more diversity in candidate placements.
Goal #3 With MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, develop fluency with Candidate Assessment of Performance, in year following the pilot year.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Develop an explicit plan for support during the transition in program leadership: Goal was accomplished fully. Leadership transition occurred from January until June of 2016. Program grew in size and scope during transition.
Goal #2 Identify and develop network school partnerships in order to offer more diversity in candidate placements: Goal was not accomplished. Network school partnerships remained the same.
Goal #3 With MA Develop of Elementary and Secondary Education, develop fluency with Candidate Assessment of Performance, in year following pilot year: Goals was accomplished. Candidate Assessment of Performance tools were employed throughout the year.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Pilot 2nd year of two-year residency program culminating in master's degree (university partnership)
Goal #2 Strengthen partnerships with network schools to provide pre-service SEI experiences (school and community partnerships)
Goal #3 Finalize coursework, align pathway, and gain approval for master's degree (university partnership)

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 ACCOMPLISHED: Successful pilot of 2-year residency program; degree completion to occur, Summer 2016. NTC will offer 2nd-year residency again, with support from Fitchburg State University, 2016-2017.
Goal #2 ACCOMPLISHED: Identified six (6) new SEI pre-practicum sites, and developed partnership with each. Placed candidates at four (4) sites for SEI pre-practicum experience.
Goal #3 ACCOMPLISHED: Syllabi for four (4) graduate level courses revised to align to Professional Standards for Teachers, MA Curriculum Frameworks/CCSS, Fitchburg State University Educator Program (graduate level). FSU/NTC Pathway approved and established (15 graduate credits), toward fulfillment of requirements of FSU Master's degree in Curriculum and Teaching.
