Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Successful integration of the CAP standards across all programs.
Goal #2 Successful integration of the new Professional Standards for Teachers across the curriculum in all programs.
Goal #3 Modification of our current General Education/Moderate Disabilities licensure program to include more social-emotional learning content.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Explore possibility of modifying the Master of Arts in Teaching curriculum to make room for more electives in the program
Goal #2 Continue to explore the possibility of discontinuing the under-enrolled Moderate Disabilities program and recruiting more students into our general education/Moderate dual licensure program
Goal #3 Use feedback from Supervising Practitioners to guide modifications to our clinical programs

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 A previously required course in the MAT program has been made optional, allowing students in the program somewhat more flexibility in pursuing electives.
Goal #2 Discussion about the elimination of the Moderate-only program continues; currently the department is developing new coursework in the dual Moderate/General Education licensure program which may eventually result in the Moderate-only program being phased out.
Goal #3 Introduction of the CAP pilot during the 2015-2016 AY has resulted in ongoing modifications to our clinical programs.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Streamline general education course offerings to reflect reduced number of students so that fewer courses are subject to cancellation
Goal #2 Explore possibility of integrating the moderate special needs and general education programs to reflect the needs of the K-12 population
Goal #3 Use annual alumni survey results to drive curriculum reform

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 We have been successful in tracking the progress of our students more closely so that we are scheduling an appropriate number of courses for our students' needs each semester.
Goal #2 Discussion of integration of the two programs is still ongoing; the department is exploring the impact it will have on faculty workload
Goal #3 Individual program faculty have met to discuss how the curriculum can be modified while still meeting the state requirements.
