Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Continue to facilitate regular meetings of the teacher preparation faculty and administration across levels and between colleges across the University to foster collaboration in order to improve candidate preparation.
Goal #2 Utilize internal and external data to inform strategic decisions that impact teacher preparation, candidates and schools and document impact.
Goal #3 Strengthen training for Supervising Practitioners and Program Supervisors regarding CAP and strategies for providing meaningful feedback and positively impacting teacher candidate effectiveness.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Beginning this spring, we will begin the process of aligning our teacher preparation programs to the 2014 Professional Standards for Teachers.
Goal #2 During the 2015-2016 year our teacher preparation programs seek to solicit the feedback and guidance of our K-12 partners in designing field-based experiences.
Goal #3 We will continue to develop workshops for to support candidates in completing the Foundations of Reaching and General Curriculum math subtest MTEL.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Teacher preparation program syllabi and courses have been aligned with the 2014 Professional Standards for Teachers.
Goal #2 After our formal review we have commenced with a logic model to solicit regular PK-12 partner feedback, including feedback on field-based experiences and supports for the Candidate Assessment of Performance.
Goal #3 We have identified instructors and a viable program format for our MTEL preparation for Foundations of Reading and the General Curriculum mathematics subtest. We plan to offer the Foundations of Reading session in early summer 2016.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Between September 1, 2014 and August 31, 2015, we will continue to revise course syllabi based on student, partner and professional feedback.
Goal #2 Between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2015, we will institute regular capture of data from partner principals regarding candidate preparation.
Goal #3 Between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2015 we will establish bi-yearly MTEL preparation for Foundations of Reading and the General Curriculum math subtests.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 We revised and aligned all teacher preparation syllabi with the MA Professional Standards for Teachers in as part of our Formal Review.
Goal #2 We developed and distributed surveys for principal/department heads and supervising practitioners during the summer of 2014. This surveys will be disseminated yearly.
Goal #3 We have identified faculty to deliver our MTEL preparation courses, but they are not yet developed.
