Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 ENC will continue to work on strengthening the partnerships that are currently in place and look at the possibility of adding a high school.
Goal #2 ENC will continue to focus on developing strategies to recruit and admit a diverse candidate pool.
Goal #3 ENC will continue to develop strategies for enhancing the CAP process for Candidates and Supervising Practitioners.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 ENC has had a strong informal partnership with a local school district. The Division of Teacher Education will work to develop an MOU to formalize a partnership with a group of elementary schools to be implemented during the 2015-2016 academic year.
Goal #2 During the 2013-2014 Academic year, the Division of Teacher education developed and implement 3 common assessment rubrics to use for evaluating student work (Common assessments Unit Rubric, Common Writing Rubric, Common Oral Presentation Rubric). We will continue to evaluate the implementation of the rubrics and make adjustments/changes based on feedback from faculty.
Goal #3 To enhance the recruitment of students to the education program, we will develop materials for the Education webpage that highlights the Eastern Nazarene College Teacher Education Program: Interviews with two to three graduates currently working in the field, materials that can be used for MTEL preparation, and a list of programs ENC offers that are in high need areas.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 ENC has put in place an MOU with our partner schools. During the Fall and Spring semesters we held meetings of the students teachers and faculty from the partner school focusing on the use of technology in the classroom. Some teachers from the partner schools who do not have student teachers also attended the meetings.
Goal #2 We continue to use the Common Assessments that were developed and revise them as needed.
Goal #3 In cooperation with the Marketing Department, an Education Fact Sheet and e-book have been developed that highlight the ENC Teacher Education Program.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 To develop a two part candidate portfolio process: One part will be the traditional paper based portfolio, the second part of the portfolio process will be contained in a candidate designed classroom webpage. This will be presented during the candidates' portfolio exit interview that is required for licensure.
Goal #2 To enhance the recruitment of students to the education program, we will develop materials for the Education webpage that highlights the Eastern Nazarene College Teacher Education Program: Interviews with two to three graduates currently working I the field, materials that can be used for MTEL preparation, a list of programs ENC offers that are in high need areas, highlights of work in which faculty have been involved.
Goal #3 To continue to monitor the previous two goals related to the ELL Curriculum and Methods course ES 320/520 and the Teacher Education Advisory Committee.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 We have a group of students piloting the 2-part Candidate Portfolio Process. Their portfolios are due the third week of April. We will get feedback from the Candidates about the process and then make adjustments/changes based on the feedback.
Goal #2 An e-Book has been developed in cooperation with the Marketing Department. The Webpage is still in the process of being developed.
Goal #3 A change has been made in the Adjunct Faculty person teaching the ELL Curriculum and Methods course. We will review the Course Evaluation at the end of the semester looking for feedback about the course. There will also be an observation done of the faculty member currently teaching the course with a follow-up conference. The Teacher Education Advisory Committee has met twice during the 2014-2015 Academic year providing input about the upcoming Program Review from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. They will continue to be consulted during the preparation of Program Review materials and provide input about program changes/improvements that need to be made based on feedback from candidates and surveys.
