Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 To implement the CAP in supervision of all practicum and pre-practicum placements.
Goal #2 Formalize a partnership with Becker's Global Citizenship Center to provide our student teachers with an opportunity to engage directly with parents of ELL students.
Goal #3 To continue to work toward increasing the pass rate for MTEL general curriculum math sub-test for program completers up to 80%

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 To increase the pass rate for general curriculum math sub-test for program completers to 80%
Goal #2 To increase the pass rate for Foundations of Literacy for students completing non-clinical courses to 80%
Goal #3 To have all students pass all sections of the MTEL before graduation.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The program completers are still struggling to pass the general curriculum math sub-test. Our goal was 80%. However, only 4 of 9 students (45%) have passed the MTEL general curriculum math subtest.
Goal #2 This goal has been met. Out of 25 students, 20 have met the criteria giving Becker a pass rate of 80% on the Foundations of Literacy MTEL.
Goal #3 The goal has not been met. Students continue to take all required MTELs prior to graduation with the exception of the General Curriculum MTEL.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 To increase the pass rate for General Curriculum Math for program completers to 80%
Goal #2 To increase the pass rate for Foundations of Literacy for the students completing non-clinical courses to 80%
Goal #3 To increase the number of accepted juniors in the early childhood licensure program by three to five students.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Becker has instituted a one credit course to prepare students for passing the General Curriculum Math for program completers
Goal #2 Students are spending more time in a first grade classroom observing teachers who are teaching children to read.
Goal #3 Students who cannot pass the Communications and Literacy test are given more opportunities for tutoring. This test is a requirement for acceptance into the licensure program.
