Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Our first and primary goal this year continues to be recruitment of potential students. We broadened our reach to include more undergrad program nation wide, including college Hillels and Jewish Study departments. We have worked more closely with our alumni through their facebook and private contacts.
Goal #2 With fewer applicants and fewer students, a very important goal is to work collaboratively with the general MAT team to plan for a fuller integration of Delet into the MAT program.
Goal #3 Creating a stronger alliance and partnership with our Jewish day schools who provide mentoring to our students.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 increase recruitment
Goal #2 scholarships
Goal #3 sharing institutional resources with Brandeis to lower budget and diversify student experiences

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Goal one was about increasing recruitment. While we expanded our recruitment efforts, we actually saw a decrease in inquiries and applicants. This is troubling indeed but perhaps the low applicant rate is a result of the current economic market and the challenges in teacher preparation as a whole and in preparation for Jewish day schools in particular.
Goal #2 Initially, our scholarship were a non-issue as we had a rich source of outside, private funding. Unfortunately our funding sources have been dramatically reduced. Along with the university's development team, we sought other funding groups with little to no yield. It appears that the funding a program that trains people to be teachers in Jewish day schools, is not popular.
Goal #3 This last goal continues to be relevant to our program. As our funding decreased, along with our enrollment, we have had to pool our resources with the public MAT program. Our conversations with the Education leadership is on-going to this very day. Progress in being made in integrating Delet more fully into the general MAT program.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Continue to maintain strong recruitment in both quality and quantity of applicants
Goal #2 Continue to work towards scholarship fundraising
Goal #3 strengthen partner school relationships and adjust curriculum to meet school needs

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 this is our biggest struggle program will be even smaller next year
Goal #2 we have maintained the same level of scholarship most students get about 50 percent with need and merit based scholarships
Goal #3 this has mostly been successful we have added a practicum in two new schools this year
