Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 We hosted 800 middle schoolers for a STEM EXPO from 3 local communities. We piloted a Saturday course re teaching STE
Goal #2 We created a formal articulation agreement with the Norton schools. We invited public school representatives to serve on our Education Advisory group.
Goal #3 Local educators conducted technology workshops for our students

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Self-study assessment of methods seminar (EDUC 495) which accompanies the practicum (EDUC 496).
Goal #2 Revisions to SEI course (ED 598: teaching English Language Learners), particularly in terms of fieldwork (implementation) as well as any editing required by ESE.
Goal #3 Greater integration of technology/online elements at all levels (blended learning, online learning, podcasts, etc.).

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 We have implemented many of the findings from our self study and evaluation of the methods seminar (EDUC 495) and the practicum (EDUC 496). Specifically, we have refined our criteria for grading and scoring the PPA and our handbooks for explaining this process to Supervising Practitioners so that there is more clarity around scoring and grading.
Goal #2 We have revised the SEI/RETELL course (EDUC 230: Teaching English Language Learners to contextualize and apply fieldwork and give students greater exposure to experts in the field.
Goal #3 EDUC 390: Teaching Reading and Language Arts incorporated a digital teaching history component this past fall. These teaching histories were integrated into their final portfolio for the course and will migrate to their Professional portfolios. ED 375: Issues in Early Care and Education uses VoiceThreads to analyze and document young children's learning and ED 250: Schooling in America uses the innovative DIIGO technology to engage students in integrative, ongoing research.
