Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Recruitment materials developed and coordinated activities established with 4 Springfield High schools. 20 teacher candidates of colors from Springfield recruited into high need licensure areas.
Goal #2 80% live Text membership purchased
Goal #3 80% data collected at the program level.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Develop a recruitment plan to attract students of color into our teacher licensure programs.
Goal #2 Full implementation of the Live Text data collection and reporting system

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 MOA partnership signed with Springfield Public Schools to increase the number of teachers of colors at WSU and in Springfield Schools Districts
Goal #2 Partial implementation Live Text assessment system. We decided to do a slower roll out because the various constituents needing training on the use of the new system.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Revise advising protocol for post baccalaureate and graduate candidates.
Goal #2 Develop strategies to increase more interaction with diverse candidates for our teacher candidates.
Goal #3 Retain faculty of color (adjuncts) hired fall 2010 - spring 2013.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 The Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education established and advising team from the division that would be available to do the basis advising (general education courses). Once candidates begin the professional sequence, student will see the advisor from their program. This new protocol allows additional access to an advisor.
Goal #2 Fall 2012, WSU established an initiative with two male faculty of color from Columbia University and Howard University to teach three webinars for a courses in our Readind specialist program. We are continuing the initiative for Fall 2013. Spring 2014 we developed an initiative with Spelman college. Both WSU and Spelman teacher candidates participated in 3 webinars taught by WSU and Spelman Faculty.
Goal #3 During Fall 2010 -spring 2013, we hired 13 adjuncts for our evening initial and graduate advanced programs. Of the 13, we were able to retain 10. Two of the adjuncts moved to another state for a full time position and the other enrolled into a doctoral program but remains active through committee work.
