Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The teacher preparation programs will review curriculum, courses, assessments and field and clinical experiences and develop and implement action plans for incorporating the new state standards and indicators for teacher preparation.
Goal #2 The unit will pilot the new Massachusetts teacher Performance Assessment with a subset of candidates in fall and spring semesters.
Goal #3 Continue progress toward a deeper involvement of the P12 community in review and continuous improvement of the assessment system.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Collaborate with school districts to implement regulatory changes regarding lists of qualified supervising practitioners.
Goal #2 Strengthening partnerships with area P-12 schools at the unit level with a particular focus on better articulation of early field experiences and practicum.
Goal #3 Continue movement toward Target Level on NCATE Standard 2: Assessment System and Unit Evaluation.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 A process for securing the mandated list of qualified supervising practitioners was developed through P12 administrator's collaboration. The process was piloted in 2014-2015 and targeted for full implementation across the unit in 2015-2016.
Goal #2 A Clinical Practice Committee was formed and has begun implementation of unit level P12 involvement in the review and continuous improvement of clinical practice and early field experiences.
Goal #3 Much progress was made in moving toward target level of Standard 2 and work will continue as the unit moves toward meeting new state and CAEP standards for program and unit approval.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Implement new courses and field experiences designed to meet the 11 new standards and the endorsement in Sheltered English Immersion (SEI)as outlined in the new state regulations.
Goal #2 Implement increased hours in practicum experiences across licensure programs as defined by the new state regulations.
Goal #3 Move toward "Target" level on NCATE Standard 2: Assessment System and Unit Evaluation with a specific focus on Element 2b - Data Collection, Analysis and Evaluation.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Met - our SEI course with field experiences was approved by ESE and has been implemented in the core academic programs and moderate disabilities.
Goal #2 Met - all programs have implemented increased practicum hours per state regulatory changes.
Goal #3 Continued for 2014-2015. Progress included further implementation of common rating scale across program focal assessments; increased focus on unit operations related to more efficient data collection and program-level use of data for program improvement.
